- Description
- Established as a contribution to the people and culture of Kağıthane and to the urban history of İstanbul, one of the world's most admired cities, Kağıthane Open-Air Museum houses a total of 141 historical artifacts recorded in 80 inventory documents. These artifacts from the Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman periods were sometimes collected from excavation trucks, sometimes found during foundation excavations, and sometimes unearthed during road improvement and infrastructure works. Arranged and classified with information panels in the garden in front of Kağıthane Municipality (Kağıthane Belediyesi), Kağıthane Open-Air Museum was registered by the Ministry of Culture in March 2007 and entered into the inventory of the İstanbul Archaeological Museums Directorate. Officially part of the İstanbul Archaeological Museums, Kağıthane Open-Air Museum features columns from various palaces, architectural fragments, gravestones from different religions and tomb covers...
