Description

Heciz Kalesi, built from Ahmetli limestone on a hill near Kalealtı Mahallesi in our district, is reached by a 100-meter uphill path. Located at kilometer 15 of the old Şile-İstanbul road, Heciz Kalesi dates to the Byzantine period. The castle has 3 circular towers and defensive walls, with a water cistern also built to its south. Heciz Kalesi, one of the finest examples showing that our district is an ancient settlement, awaits visitors.
